Supper in Charlottetown
One floor down, O'Brien's Social Bar & Kitchen carries the name of Joe O'Brien, a Hall of Fame horseman from PEI. From Sunday to Wednesday it serves 11 am to 8 pm, and from Thursday to Saturday the kitchen runs until 10 pm. At Red's, plates of Italian-style comfort food are served facing a 14-foot screen. From Sunday through Wednesday it opens 4 pm to 10 pm, and from Thursday through Saturday, 11 am to midnight.
Top of the Park looks down over the Driving Park from three tiers. People know it for its Sunday brunch and for the buffet on race nights. Red Shores posts no hours for it, so a quick call before you plan the evening around it makes sense. The Trackside Patio is an outdoor spot right next to the racing, and it has no posted hours either. Both sit in the same Charlottetown hall as O'Brien's and Red's.
The grill in Summerside
At Red Shores at Summerside, the kitchen is the West End Bar & Grill, a casual sit-down bar and restaurant with full service. Seven days a week, its doors open from 11 am to 8 pm. Sunday through Thursday the VLT floor carries on until 11 pm, so the grill shuts three hours ahead of it on those nights. Friday and Saturday, the floor keeps going until 1 am. Booking a table
The Charlottetown restaurants book tables by phone alone, through 902-620-4264; nothing can be reserved online. The two Red Shores buildings hold four places to eat between them. A Rewards Club card also brings money off at the restaurants, and the only place to get one is the Rewards Club Desk inside the Charlottetown casino. Neither hall posts holiday hours, so before a holiday call the main line: 902-620-4222 for Charlottetown, 902-888-5666 for Summerside.
