Red Shores and play on a screen
Red Shores, in Charlottetown and in Summerside, is a pair of halls with doors to walk through, not an app on a phone. Casino games played online on the island answer to different rules, and Island Ticker sets those out plainly below.

The island's rules for online play
On Prince Edward Island, casino games online have one provincially regulated home: alc.ca. Atlantic Lottery handles its operation, acting for the PEI Lotteries Commission, which is the provincial body in charge of gaming. The same company, held jointly by the four Atlantic provinces, also runs both Red Shores halls that Island Ticker covers. Atlantic Lottery sets 19 as the youngest age to buy, play or cash in any of its products, so alc.ca players must be at least that old.
No licence or registration of any kind exists on Prince Edward Island for private online casinos. The province's 2023 to 2028 gambling strategy states that offshore online casinos have no power to run gaming on PEI. Atlantic Lottery's position is stricter still. It says an outside gambling site cannot lawfully operate, or even place advertising, anywhere across Atlantic Canada, and holding a foreign licence does not alter that.
Island Ticker's three Ad links
Only the Island Ticker home page carries paid links, three in total, each with the Ad tag. Each of the three takes you to the same online casino, a private business, and that operator pays Island Ticker when a reader opens an account with it. The partner could be swapped at some point. It is a company apart from alc.ca, and Red Shores, Atlantic Lottery and the Lotteries Commission play no role in it.
Going by the provincial position above, a private site of that kind holds no authority in PEI. Whether to use it is your call, made knowing that. Each game carries a built-in house edge, so across many plays the players as a group hand back more than they carry home. Play responsibly, at Red Shores or anywhere else.
Breaks on a screen
Breaks on alc.ca work separately from the halls. A short break can last between 1 and 90 days, and long breaks come as 36, 24, 12 or 6 months. Neither type can be cut short once chosen. The alc.ca wager screens include a Take a Break button as well.
Break in Play is what Red Shores calls its self-exclusion, and it covers the gaming floors in both Charlottetown and Summerside; alc.ca keeps its own breaks, listed above. Short versions last 30, 60 or 90 days, while long ones stretch to 6, 12, 24 or 36 months. To talk one through, the PlayWise Advisors answer at 902-620-4267.
Quick answers
Can I play Red Shores games on my phone?
Red Shores games are played on the floors in Charlottetown and Summerside. Its one website, redshores.ca, covers both halls. For casino games online, the provincially regulated site is alc.ca.
What is the island's own site for online casino games?
The island's regulated site is alc.ca, and Atlantic Lottery operates it, acting for the PEI Lotteries Commission. Private online casinos cannot get any licence or registration at all from Prince Edward Island.
What sits behind the Ad tags on the home page?
All three paid links on Island Ticker point to the same private online casino, and that business pays the guide when a reader opens an account with it. It is neither alc.ca nor Red Shores, and the partner could change later.
Does a Break in Play block websites too?
Break in Play covers the gaming floors at both Red Shores halls. alc.ca runs its own breaks, so set one there as well if you play online.
